My Manager is a Donkey and Me too*
I think in the
today’s corporate world most hated word is MANAGER. If we put, the word
‘Manager’ in the hated words computation, word ‘Manager’ will get shortlisted
with great majority, why many hate their managers? There are some reasons I
found from one of the below mentioned site:

Many
resignation happen because of manager, not because of office or salary or
policies.
Never
support Favoritism, crank, personally taking, psychopath manager to grow, it
will be create harm to the society, as is the leader so is the employees, again
in future; today’s employees will become tomorrow’s managers. How they will be
different from their earlier bosses. That’s why more stupidity we see in
today’s corporate world, earlier it was only in politics.
If manager
is complaining on any employee, he is not at all a manager. Skills of real
manager stays in dealing with different and difficult personalities, if all the
employees are good and working, why the need of manger?
Manager is
someone who generate loyalty and kind of leadership reputation that will have
the best talents standing in a line to work for him/her.
We are in
soft work (or software) era, arrogance wouldn't help here. Arrogance works only
at lathe work/rock work. With arrogance; hard worker may hit hammer with more
stronger. (Now a days hard works also introduced soft processes) if you show
arrogance here - employee may take leaves at the time of important work. Keep
in mind have good relationship with employee, in case; if they are sick also,
they should come and work for you when it is really needed. Not like taking
sick leave just because they hate you.. Corporate running with deadlines
and milestone dates. If they have not met deadlines or milestones because of
employee intentional sick leaves or intentional personal off or manager’s
stupidity it moves project at risk. That is why surveys, feedbacks and
retrospect’s come in picture, it helps to eliminate those managers out of
corporates and employees too if needed.
You should
respect your manager, it’s a position that deserved it. It does not mean that
you need to accept all his/her non-sense too, if you find your manager is
playing favor to his relatives/friends, community, language, and country, so
on. Make sure you are intimating this to your higher management, if in case you
have no trust in his/her higher managers, try to reach the skip levels or
whatever the level, and make sure, you are sending a feedback on it. Don’t
worry to talk to the big people, big people values your feedback, they don’t harm
you. If they harm you they too will be a small people, better leave them.
Entertaining
your boss just because he/she belongs to your community, language, state, they
helped you to grow without you get qualified to it, means; you are contributing
to grow immorality and crime in the society, it will affect the future
generations. Please don’t support and be part of it.
As 16th
Century poet Sarvajna said: if coward become a leader, if stupid become a
teacher, if rascal become a ruler, the whole country will suffer badly.
Currently
with our great ignorance we have destroyed our political systems functioning in
the world, please don’t destroy the corporate system by supporting or giving
good rating and feedbacks to the idiotic managers or management. In future your
kids will be suffering with the system you have created today.
Thank god
we have GPTW and other surveys in the organization to create better work and
life balanced environments.
To the
Management: please try to hire or position a manager or a director based on
their qualification, not based on their “tenure”. If donkey’s age is 20 or 30,
it doesn’t mean it is a wise or capable.
To the
Managers: Appreciating your favorable people and ignoring others, is clearly
visible to the team. You are here to work for the organization, don’t expect
employees to bowdown in front of you. We all working for common goals. Expect
only work, if you try to show your attitude or personal ego, you will be thrown
out, Reason: after manager, next levels are very few and it will be given to
the real qualified ones. If someone missed in that filter, next filter you will
be cot.
Don’t start hating managers. By hating your manager internally,
how you can expect your manager to love you? Have good thoughts internally
about your manager, than you will be having good relationship with the
management.
Don’t give
up or blame country or society for not getting professional growth. Take A P J
Abdul Kalam is a role model to all of us, he born and brought up with normal
family. How he achieved great positions? Keep this in mind, our sincere effort
will always give good results, no politics or buttering is needed. In this
Indian society person belongs minority community, without bribing, buttering,
he achieved highest position in Govt Organizations. Why can’t you make it in
more transparent corporate sector?

I’m referring is not 1000 years old person. Till recent days he was guiding and
helping our current generation, now he is no more, his name and motivation
stays with us forever.
One thing
is sure: what you give you get it. Give good to get good, giving bad and
expecting good to come is nonsense, which will never happen.
Let’s start seeing on
the title of this blog:
You just work like a
donkey, no one cares your words and not required to care, look at the great
constructions Egyptian pyramids, Golden Gate Bridge, Taj Mahal, many more you
will see only one or few dreamers to these. Others are just workers. If all are
dreamers, who will work? If all are the dreamers what kind of design will come
out? So make sure you work like donkey when working as worker.
Throw out your EGO of
being to be printed your name on every project you work, once project
completed, no one’s name come out, other than the project name.
Just take an examples
and try to find the names of the designers or developers:
- In software: Bluetooth, Linux,
TCP/IP
- In construction: Burj khalifa,
Great wall of Chaina, Mysore palace, so on.
Tell me the names of the
designer or developers or companies without googling, its bit difficult to get
names right?
Look at the above temple
image, few days’ back I took it at Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Look at the single
stone curved rings hanging at the roof of the temple. I have no idea of this
great Rock curved art temple designers or developers names. I just only
enjoyed the beauty of it. I don’t even searched for the names. Name does not
matter only purpose matters.
Just I had a selfie with
it, I took one more selfie with elephant too, in both the case I have no idea
of Designer of the temple and Father/Mother of elephant too..
Having selfie is OK,
having too much selfishness is not OK.
Don't worry about the
name, just work like a donkey. Sometimes; time gives you an option to play
different roles, utilize that opportunity and express your thought or idea’s to
it or else; work like a donkey. Don’t simply comment on every process of the
system, every design of the system, it just creates some amount of stress and
anxiety in you. Management/owner/designer know about how to take and make the
things to work for the organization and its goals, they go with their plan and
purpose.

Above quote make sense,
still I’m not totally agreed with the above quote. We all have dreams, size of
the dream matters; if your dream is small you alone make that true by working.
If your dream is big, you need many to work for your dream, in that care you
hire or take help of others.
In my opinion; we all
together working to fulfill each other’s dreams.
Why you need to work
like a donkey?
- Donkey never questions.
- Donkey have no ambiguity in doing work.
- Donkey follows defined rules without fail.
- Donkey don't skip the given route without further notice.
- Donkey don't dream something its own to put in. (when on duty)
We are here to work like
a donkeys, don’t try to impose your dreams, when working in corporate
organizations remember you are here to make companies or owners dreams come to
true, not your dream come true. Of course by doing others dream work, you will
be full filling your dreams too.
You don’t think that you
are working for your manager’s dream. Your manager and manager’s manager too
are working for the dreamers dream. In corporate: dreamers are the Owner’s or
CEO’s or Customers and only few countable people in it. Rest of the mass are
just a works, and may be designation is varied.
Here is a reporting
structure: Look who the dreamer is or where is he and where are you?
Just imagine, before building
Taj Mahal, It was a dream or design of Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, and Shah Jahan gift
to Mumtaz.
If they have taken
20,000 employees advice for design, who worked for it? What will be the design?
We can’t imagine it right?
If everyone gives one
one suggestion it goes nowhere, long back I heard one quote on this context: if
you don’t want something to happen, put it in meeting with few
people. So each one will suggest something and it will be stopped.
That is the reason; I’m
saying we are here to work like a donkeys.
Many times I see
employee’s comments on their manager, manager complaining on their manager, so
on.
Let’s study their complaints and
nature of complaints:
- This design is wrong, what the hell they are going to do with it?
- This organization is using most stupid technologies.
- This is a useless effort they asked us to do, something is wrong with my manager or director.
- Simply investing money.
- Office process is not good.
- HR policies are not good.
- Who will use this design? So on.
Regarding corporate:
Corporate are not
food distribution centers(except food sector), reason why I'm bringing this
point is many times I heard people saying that office gives, dry fruits, beer,
that this, so on. Are we going to the office to eat or to do sumo fight? Many
of the people forgotten the purpose of their employment. Some are thinking that
we completed tech degree so corporate need to pay? Remember corporate are not
charity centers, not Ashrams to expect that way.
So called educated
people talk so much about corruption. Touch your heart and say, how many
days you have taken salary by not working or by working only few hours
(Excluding people in bench/have no work). Taking money and not working is a
kind of stealing. Don't say its small, and I'm not doing big one. For
you its small, for them that is small.
Last but not least:
Regarding Donkey, I
don’t want to speak light words on donkey, since the word is catchy, I just
used it, and in future they may sue me on this subject.
We human being are
defined, qualified, and certified ourselves as a most intelligent animal on
earth. Still we haven’t done enough research on other organisms exists along
with us, may be still we have not invented those equipment to measure their IQ,
EQ and So on.
Just imagine donkey might
be a great intellect in the living beings, because of its physical limitation
and non-speaking nature [may be we are not able to decode its language yet].
Hence we are not able to identify it as a great living being. In future some
research says and declare that donkey is a master of living beings!
